Thanksgiving....Fall....

We get together with our homeschool group every other week. This week, another mom brought the cutest craft to share! They are adorable! That is a real block of wood, craft sticks, pretty paper, ribbon, hot glue, and feathers! There are so many ways you could dress these little gobblers up!

Every year it is tradition for us to create a Thankful Tree.......So for the month of November, we all write down each day things we are thankful for.  We should do this everyday of the year, but I don't have a stick tree big enough!  So to create our beautiful fall leaves I take white card stock, lay it in a pan of water until wet, set it on paper towels or drying rack, then take fall colored food coloring and drop onto the card stock.  (This year I photo copied leaves on the card stock instead of tracing real leaves on the card stock)  It makes a somewhat tye dye affect....and looks awesome.  Once they dry, we cut out the leaves, hole punch them, and they are ready to write on!

We made this leaf mobile a couple of years ago as part of Bambi's Oak Meadow Science.....It's basically the same concept as above, as far as the food coloring, but instead of using card stock we used coffee filters.  She traced her leaves on them, that she had found to classify, and cut them out.

We made the little turkey bowls a few years ago and the kids insist on keeping them!  They turned out real cute!  We used a balloon and paper maiched it halfway up....let dry, pop the balloon, painted the bowl, then decorate and whaaalaaa!  A Turkey Bowl to keep your Thanksgiving rolls in or your leaves!
We made these last year.  I think I got the idea from Family Fun.  We just went to the yard, picked acorns of all sizes....took the tops off and added feathers or yarn with hot glue and drew cute faces on them! The kids enjoyed this!  This would be a great Fall Party Craft!
This is Thumper's Owl!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
